Easton mayor standing behind man claiming to be king of Ga people in Ghana

Never wavering from his claim to the Gua War Throne of the Ga Kingdom, John Quartey met the media Monday.

The former Palmer Township man says he is now Nii Guate Asuasa Ekasee Ako II, the absolute king of the Ga people in Ghana. He said he is here to promote free elections in Ghana and garner the support of American politicians and people to help guide his country away from the sort of unrest taking place in much of West Africa.

He also gave a condensed history of his kingdom and his throne, the ancient Gua stool of Ga, which he says dates back 5,500 years.
