4th annual African American Educational Excellence Awards, Wednesday, Feb 28, 2017@ 6-7:30 p.m.

It is that time of year again and In honor of Black History Month the Lehigh Valley My Brother’s Keeper Initiative presents the 4th annual African American Educational Excellence Awards on Wednesday, Feb 28, 2017@ 6-7:30 p.m. The event will be hosted in the Lehigh County Government Center (17 S 7th St, Allentown, PA 18101) Public Hearing Room. Light refreshments will be served.

The purpose of this Award’s event is to recognize African American educators and students who have demonstrated a commitment to educational mentoring and academic achievement.

Normally the Black History month narrative focuses on the story of our struggle and the usual historic figures. Make no mistake those stories and icons are critical to understanding our unique American experience as African Americans. However that is not the only narrative of that experience. Since the founding of our nation until today we have made significant imprints and contributions in the fields of science, medicine, technology and math.
