Election date set for Philadelphia NAACP chapter - The Philadelphia Tribune: News

The Philadelphia branch of the NAACP will be having elections for its next president early next month, an election that candidate Rodney Muhammad said he hopes will put the organization on a path to revitalization.

It was originally planned to be held last week, but was rescheduled to Dec. 6 from noon to 3 p.m., at the offices of the Beech Corporation Inc., at 1510-20 Cecil B. Moore Avenue. To vote a person must be a member in good standing with the civil rights organization and present proof of such to cast a ballot.

It is the first time that former local chapter president Jerome Mondesire has not been able to run in 17 years. Mondesire was suspended by the national office earlier this year following allegation of financial improprieties. The allegations were detailed in a lawsuit filed by local businessman Sid Booker, community leader Donald “Ducky” Birts and the Rev. Elijah Moore.
